Eric J. Sarraga
Eric J. Sarraga joined Foy & Seplowitz LLC in January 2020 as an associate criminal defense attorney. He is a zealous advocate who is committed to aggressively defending his clients.
Prior to joining Foy & Seplowitz LLC, Mr. Sarraga served as an Assistant Deputy Public Defender with the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender in the Northern Region of the Division of Mental Health Advocacy. In this role, Mr. Sarraga represented individuals civilly committed to psychiatric hospitals in their quasi-criminal commitment hearings. He also worked on class action litigation against state psychiatric hospitals. Mr. Sarraga started his legal career as the judicial law clerk to the Honorable Sheila A. Venable, P.J.S.C., the presiding criminal judge in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Hudson Vicinage.
In 2014, Mr. Sarraga earned his B.A. in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Rutgers University. In 2017, he earned his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law. During law school, Mr. Sarraga interned at Foy & Seplowitz, LLC and helped the firm obtain a not guilty verdict on behalf of a client facing murder charges in the Bronx County Supreme Court. He also completed internships at the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. Mr. Sarraga developed his in-depth understanding of criminal courts through his judicial externships for the Honorable Margaret M. Foti, P.J.S.C., the presiding criminal judge in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen Vicinage, and the Honorable Sheila A. Venable, P.J.S.C.
Mr. Sarraga is admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey, the State of New York, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
